REQUIREMENTS:
- Printed appointment notice for your consular interview.
- Original valid passport.
- Vaccination card and/or proof of received vaccines (optional).
- If you are undergoing medical treatment, you may bring information about it.
Here, you will receive a data form to fill out and your turn to begin your consular medical exam.
PROCESS
DOCUMENT SUBMISSION: You will be given a data form to fill out and your turn number for the service desk.
DATA ENTRY AND PHOTOGRAPH
VISION TEST: We will conduct visual acuity tests. This test is not administered to children under 4 years old.
LABORATORY: Blood and urine samples will be taken only if you are between 18 and 24 years old.
X-RAY: If you are over 15 years old, we will perform a chest X-ray.
MEDICAL EXAM: General check-up for each patient.
VACCINES*: We will review your vaccination record and only administer the necessary vaccines to meet the United States vaccination requirements according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
PAYMENT: You will make the payment for your medical exam and any required vaccines.
ALL DONE!: You will receive your proof of completion of the medical exam, which you will present on the day of your consular appointment.
*Note: Vaccine costs are not included; they are charged separately from the medical exam.
RESULTS
Your consular medical exam results may be provided in two formats depending on the type of residency visa you are applying for:
- IMMIGRANT VISAS: Results will not be given to you directly; we will send them electronically to the U.S. Consulate on the next business day after your exam.
- FIANCÉ VISAS (K1, K2): You will be given a sealed black envelope — DO NOT OPEN IT! — and take it with you to your consular interview..
Remember: Both formats are valid and may vary depending on each applicant’s case.
Starting April 1, 2024, by order of the U.S. Consulate, all applicants aged 2 years and older will require a blood test for tuberculosis (IGRA).
