The results of the consular medical exam are among the most frequently asked questions during the U.S. residency visa process. At every stage of the process, your privacy is protected, and the secure handling of your medical information, as well as your personal data, is ensured.

Protection of data privacy for the applicant in their medical immigration process
The immigration medical examination is the property of the U.S. Consulate General; the information in which medical findings are recorded is considered official documentation of the Department of State and is not shared under any circumstances.
The medical exam is part of a standardized, regulated, and supervised protocol; clinics authorized to perform it must strictly comply with the official guidelines established by the United States immigration authorities.
As part of the process, all applicants are informed before starting their medical examination about the procedure they are going to carry out through an informed consent that they must sign; this document establishes that the medical exam is part of their immigration process and that its results will become the property of the Consulate General of the United States in Ciudad Juárez.
Additionally, Clínica Médica Internacional operates under the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data in Mexico and under applicable medical privacy standards in the United States; this guarantees that the applicants’ data is kept confidential and that only the authorities corresponding to the immigration process will have access to the information.
Security in the electronic transmission of the results of the consular medical examination
Results of the consular medical exam for immigrant visas (permanent residence in the U.S.) are not given to the applicant. By regulation, the results are sent electronically to the U.S. Consulate General system the next business day, which ensures compliance with the established deadlines and the protection of the information in accordance with the consular protocol and current immigration laws.
At the end of the process, applicants receive a receipt that proves the completion of the medical examination, which must be presented on the day of their consular interview.
At Clínica Médica Internacional, you are in good hands. We comply with applicable immigration laws. You can be sure that your information is safe, as we place special importance on the chain of custody of the consular medical examination.
We are the Mexican clinic with the largest number of applicants in the world for medical residency exams in the United States. We are authorized by the United States Government to carry out the medical immigration process.
Handling of physical records for fiancé visas (K-1, K-2).
There are specific cases where the process includes the delivery of a physical file; this applies to fiancé visas, known as K-1 and K-2, corresponding to fiancées and their dependents. This procedure is also defined by official guidelines of the migration process and must be strictly complied with.
In these cases, the results of the consular medical examination are delivered directly to the applicant in a sealed black envelope. This envelope must remain closed and must not be opened under any circumstances. The applicant must submit it at the corresponding window of the Consulate.
Before delivery, CMI staff clearly explain to the applicant how to handle it and the importance of not breaking the security seal. This guidance is intended to protect the validity of the medical record, as opening the envelope invalidates the document as an official record.
Therefore, it is essential to keep it intact and present it as it was delivered, thus guaranteeing that it is accepted by the consular authority.
What does the consular medical exam for residency procedures to the United States consist of?
The consular medical examination consists of a comprehensive medical evaluation with a preventive approach, aimed at detecting diseases that are subject to a global public health alert. Its objective is to promote safe migration and reduce the risk of transmission of infectious and contagious diseases that are controlled in the United States.
In this context, the medical examination is a mandatory requirement for those applying to the U.S. government for an immigrant visa (permanent residence) or a non-immigrant visa (fiancé). It is carried out under a standardized protocol and constantly audited by the immigration authorities of the United States and includes various tests that vary according to the age of the applicant.
Below, we present the table with the three types of exams that are carried out according to the applicant’s age group:

U.S. Immigration Law also states that applicants must comply with the U.S. vaccination schedule. During the medical appointment, the vaccination record or proof of vaccination is reviewed and, if necessary, the necessary vaccines are administered to complete the schedule, in accordance with the provisions of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices).
It is important to note that vaccines are charged separately, as they are not included in the cost of the consular medical examination.
