Consular medical examination, a mandatory requirement that must be taken in authorized clinics

U.S. immigration law states that all green card applicants, regardless of age, must undergo a medical examination as a mandatory requirement of the process.

This test can only be performed at clinics authorized by the U.S. Consulate (panel physicians). Results issued by unauthorized doctors are not valid for immigration purposes.

Each applicant is responsible for scheduling their medical examination at an authorized clinic; it is recommended to take it at least 2 to 3 days before the interview at the Consulate.

At Clínica Médica Internacional (CMI), we have more than 40 years of experience performing immigration medical exams for the United States, we are proud to be the clinic that has served the most American residency visa applicants in the world, we follow the official guidelines of the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez to guarantee all our applicants valid results and on time for your consular appointment.

What does the cost of the consular medical exam include?

The medical exam is not a general checkup. It is a specific evaluation for immigration purposes, aligned with public health criteria of the United States, which can be divided into 2 concepts:

  1. Medical examination:
    1. Eye Review
    2. Laboratory tests (blood and/or urine, depending on your age)
    3. Chest X-ray (from 15 years of age)
    4. Full Medical Evaluation
    5. Validation of the vaccination schedule.
  2.  Application of vaccines that are applied on the day of your appointment to complete the United States vaccination schedule in accordance with the CDC (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

In the case of vaccines, the clinic’s medical staff will review your immunization records and determine if you meet the requirements or if you need any additional doses. These are only applied when necessary.

Therefore, now you know that if you are in the process of residency in the United States, you must consider the cost of the consular medical exam and vaccinations.
